Last May, on the jockey’s 4Oth birthday, Green presented him with a book, meticulously detailing every winner he had ever ridden, the date, the place, the horse, the trainer and even the ‘close-up ‘comment.
“It’s a wonderful thing to have,” says Brian gratefully. Even more wonderful is what the pages prove. The value of loyalty. “The same names are on the first and last pages, people like Alistair Charlton, Dick Allen, John Dickson, and the Waltons. I’ve ridden for them all throughout my career, which is great.”
